Where can I recycle cell phones in Smithfield, VA?

I was wondering if you have a place I can drop off my plastic bags without waiting for the next event? I recycle my grocery bags at the grocery store but I don’t know if they also take # 2 and # 4 bags such as shopping bags? Any idea where I can recycle any type of shopping bags?

Any idea how to find green garbage bags as well?

Thanks! I’d love to come to the next event!

Hi Holly,

Thank you for submitting your comment and questions. We are excited to hear that you are interested in recycling your bags. Yes, we will take #2 and #4 shopping bags. You can recycle them at the Smithfield Square Shopping Center off of Church St. There are three receptacles placed along the walkway in the Shopping Center. Also, you can recylce at any of the following County Convenience Centers (dumps): Jones Creek, Wrenn’s Mill, or Stave Mill. I’m unsure about green garbage bags, but I will look into it. I am wondering if there is a place in IOW to recycle old car seats. I looked online but only found places in Colorado, Maryland, and Oregon. Would you know anything aobut this for this county, and if nothing exists, do we just send the plastic seat to the same recycling place as our bottles and cans?

Hi Jenny!
I have been researching and have had no luck finding a place locally to recycle old car seats. I spoke with a gentlemen from Colorado, where an extensive program is operated. He said that he would be happy to assist us in starting a program here. We are exploring the possibility of doing a “car seat recycle day” here for our residents. If anyone has any ideas or would like to help we’d certainly appreciate it. I’m sorry we don’t have anything in place at this time. Thank you for inquiring.

You can drop off plastic bags at the Windsor Town Hall. We have a recycling container just inside our front door!

Thanks for asking! Electronics are accepted at all 8 of our County Convenience Center sites. For a list of those sites, visit the “Recycle Now” section of the website and click on our brochure. Thank you for being responsible and recycling!

Cell phones can be recycled at the DAV Thrift Store in Smithfield (Smithfield Square Shopping Center) on South Church Street.

Where can I recycle styrofoam container in Smithfield, Va?

Currently there are no collection points in the County or Towns where styrofoam is accepted. Thank you for asking. At such time when and if that option becomes available I will let you know and post it here.

Bring them to your local county convenience center and ask the attendant there. For a listing of those locations, visit the Recycle Now page and click on the brochure. There are 8 locations in the county. If you have trouble, email me at rchieppa@iwus.net.
