County Staff and volunteers worked hard to get ready for the Isle of Wight County Fair! This was the first year that Isle Be Green had a tent all to itself. The purpose was to turn trash to treasures!
We took the children’s recycled art from the summer program…

And made a recycled art gallery! The kids that came to see their works were so excited!
The calendar art was also displayed in the gallery…
The rest of the tent was full of repurposed ideas. Everything inside was made using items we found while dumpster diving in the County dumps!
There is beauty hidden, but you have to look for it!
Do you know what these flowers are made of?
You guessed it…records!
We had to educate people about plastic bag recycling…
And the latest initiative is cigarette litter prevention (thanks to a Keep Virginia Beautiful grant)… (yes, we dug all those butts from the receptacle).
So, here are some more pics for your enjoyment.
All found at the dump!
Don’t you wish you’d come out to the Fair this year?
You could have gotten some ideas on how to be an earth saver!
