Plastic Bag Competition Comes to a Close, Diverts 10,519 pounds of plastic from landfill

Windsor Elementary has done it again! For the third year in a row Windsor is champion with a total of 5,723 pounds of plastic/400,638 plastic bags and a total of 8.87 pounds of plastic collected per enrolled student! AMAZING!!! Go Hornets!!!! As first place winner, Windsor will receive $600 cash to go towards a “green” project for the school!

And, in second place, not far behind is Carrollton Elementary with a total of 3,486 pounds of plastic/244,020 plastic bags and a total of 5.98 pounds of plastic collected per enrolled student. Great job Cardinals!!!!!!!!!! Carrollton will receive a Trex bench as second place winner!!!!

Third place goes to Hardy Elementary with 1,048 pounds of plastic/73,360 plastic bags and a total of 2.34 pounds of plastic collected per enrolled student! Congrats!!!

In fourth place we have Westside Elementary with 261.5 pounds of plastic/18,305 plastic bags and 0.34 pounds of plastic collected per enrolled student.

All schools will receive a Trex birdhouse!

Many thanks to all the volunteers, parents, students, teachers, administrators, etc. for all you did to make this program a continued success! Without you we would have sent 10,519 pounds of plastic/736,323 plastic bags to the landfill! You did make a difference!
