Plastic Bag Art

Ever think that plastic bags could be art? Not many would! But, one local artist did. She found a way to create art using recycled plastic bags!

The crab you see above is made with recycled plastic bags. On her website you will find many creations using recycled products. We are excited to have found this green artist!

Donna Iona Drozda of Wren House Studio in Virginia Beach states, “When working with young artists my focus is upon offering them the time and space to open their ‘artist eyes’.

I challenge students to discover the world of form and design through direct contact with nature. I  also acquaint them with ancient and contemporary art works that relate directly to our project.

Together we become a spirited band of explorers, discoverers, and detectives .

As a working artist I offer the opportunity for each of my young artists to become enthused by their own way of making art. We experiment and use whatever tools and materials we can find. We often utilize items that end up in our landfills. Things that are completely safe and free but which our culture tends to discard.”
